Republic day

On Wednesday, 29 May 2019, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Philharmonic organized an event on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations and the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan diplomatic services.
Dear guests, ambassadors of embassies of foreign states accredited in Slovakia and abroad, honorary consuls and friends attended the cultural evening. They were welcomed by Mrs. Dominika Vargová, Assistant to the Honorary Consul, on behalf of the Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in Slovakia, Mr. Jalal Gasymov, followed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Austria and Slovakia based in Vienna His Excellency Galib Israfilov. At the end of the official part, Ľubomír Feldek spoke to the guests. Mr. Feldek congratulated Azerbaijan on the occasion and presented his new work which contributes to the development of Azerbaijan-Slovak relations. It is a translation of a selected part of the epic poems by Nizami Ganjevi published under the title Path of Love by Ikar. The publication of this book was financially supported by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Slovakia.
After the speeches, the beautiful representative space of Reduta was resounded by the tones of music performed by the Caspian virtuosos orchestra and Azerbaijani soloists. The musicians were led by Mustafa Mehmandarov. In addition to the soloists, talented soprano Marziya Huseyn, who studies singing in Vienna and violinist Alexandra Tirsa, as well as Farhad Ashumov, a graduate of The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava of Azerbaijan origin, was introduced to the audience. The compositions of Azerbaijani and other composers from around the world performed by orchestra and soloists have enchanted all guests.
