Celebration of the Republic day

On the occasion of the Republic Day on 28 of May 2012 Embassy and the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Slovak Philharmonic and the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak republic held a concert of the Bohdan Warchal Slovak Chamber Orchestra and Azerbaijani soloists Ramiz Guliyev and Babak Niftaliyev led by Ayyub Guliyev  and the photo exhibition of Gulshen Gasimzadeh.

The concert was held in beautiful representative premises of the Slovak Philharmonic, the building Reduta on Palackého street in Bratislava.

Guests were welcomed by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Džalal Gasymov. Honorary consul then asked Mgr. Art. Dušan Jarjabek, Member of Parliament, opera singer and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media to say a few words.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan  to Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia, His Excellency Galib Israfilov and employees of the embassy did not miss this exceptional event. Invitation to the concert was accepted by the first Prime Minister of independent Azerbaijan, currently Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Poland, His Excellency Hasan Hasanov. Member of Parliament, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports Dr.h.c. mult. prof. JUDr. Mojmír Mamojka and Deputy Mayor of the Old Town, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, Youth and Sports Mudr. Peter Osuský, attended as well. Representatives of Slovak culture, heads of diplomatic missions and friends of Azerbaijan were also among the guests.

Cooperation of Azerbaijani soloists and the Bohdan Warchal Slovak Chamber Orchestra that is led by artistic director, Mr. Ewald Danel, has proved to be very fruitful. Their joint performance received great response and garnered great success. Soloist Ramiz Guliyev played on Azerbaijani string musical instrument “tar” and singer Babak Niftaliyev introduced basic musical genre of Azeri oral tradition “mugam” (Mugam in 2008 was included in the list of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Unesco) to the audience.

After the concert, a reception was held in the foyer, where photos of a young talented photographer Gulshen Gasimzadeh were on display. Guests could taste traditional Azerbaijani delicacies and pomegranate juice.
