Azerbaijani folk group at the festival in Nitra

National folk group of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art took part in the XXXVIII. International Academic Folk Groups festival Academic Nitra.

The festival is organized by Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, under the auspices of Mr. Ivan Gašparovič, President of the Slovak Republic.
The International Academic Folk Groups Festival “Academic Nitra 2012” is the competitive exhibition of national and international ensembles which perform at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Nitra Town and Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra. The festival parade in Nitra town, performances of participants at the stages, as well as several performances of foreign ensembles in the vicinity of the town are part of the festival’s programme. The scientific conference is also a part of the festival.

National folk group of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art prepared a dance-musical programme “Odlar Yurdu Azerbaycan” – “Azerbaijan, land of fire”. Ensemble, with its 6 members ( Laman Huseynli – dancer, Altay Mammadov – singer “ashug”, Khamiz Jafarov – dancer, Kamil Jafarov – singer, Kamal Abdullayev – player of the musical instrument kamancha, Ramin Rustamov – player of the musical instrument tar) led by docent at the Directing department, leading director of the Azerbaijan’s State Theatre of Opera and Ballet, merited artist of Azerbaijan Hafiz Quliyev represented their University and homeland at the high level and the audience had the opportunity to know Azerbaijani folklore better.
